Middle Bass Island - Boat Beached at Burgundy Bay, June 1, 2008

Shortly after midnight on June 1, the boat "Me & Mrs. Jones" from Vermilion reportedly hit the breakwater while attempting an entry into the Burgundy Bay marina. According to locals, after the boat hit the breakwall it backed up onto the beach on the north side of the marina, where it got stuck. Middle Bass Island residents helped to tie up the beached boat for the night.

After daybreak, a service boat from the mainland pulled the boat free and towed it into the marina, patched a hole in its hull, and then towed it back to the mainland.
