Seiche Conditions on Middle Bass Island
October 7, 2009 Winds blew out of the west at 40 knots all night and no ferries were running this morning. The water was way down. So we took some pictures at the east shore, Burgundy Bay marina, Sugar Island reef and East Point. On the east shore, the low water made a number of glacial grooves very visible. The most unusual feature of the Sugar Island reef images is that the waves are hitting the reef from both directions equally hard. We're testing some new image gallery formats and the one we're using today doesn't lend itself well to being embedded into the default style of this site so to see the gallery, click here.
