Boating Accident off Lutes Point on May 22, 2011
A 27' Sportcraft hit Lutes Point (East Point; the East Point reef) off Middle Bass Island today. The shaft and rudder became dislodged causing the vessel to flood uncontrollably. Crews on the "Ann Marie" "Donna Marie" and "Charlotte Marie" from Rescue Marine were assisted by the 47226 from United States Coast Guard Station Marblehead to save the vessel minutes before it would have sunk. The passengers were saved by the charter vessel I-Lander who first located them.
